Seeing a historic ship out of the water is a rare opportunity to view the skill and artisanry of generations past in the art of ship building. Historic Ships is Excited to offer this special and rare opportunity to our friends and fans in the Chesapeake Ship Watchers group.
USS Constellation is currently being drydocked for some minor hull repair and recaulking, which is necessary from time to time. We'd like to take this opportunity to show you the work that Historic Ships in Baltimore does to maintain this historic treasure, and we're eager to harness the ship watchers' enthusiasm for Maryland's maritime heritage in showcasing this project.
Baltimore is home to 4 historic vessels including USS Constellation, the last all-sail US Navy ship, WWII submarine USS Torsk, USCG Cutter 37, the last remaining ship from the battle of Pearl Harbor, and Lightship Chesapeake. These ships are not supported by any government funding; our only support is from museum admission, donations, and grants.
We are offering this free visit to view the ship in dry dock exclusively to our ship watcher fans.
- When: Sat, Nov. 19th at 11am.
- Where: Tradepoint Atlantic Graving Dock, Sparrows Pt. 1565 Shipyard Road.
- Cost: Free to ship watchers, but we strongly request a donation to support the project.
