Evening Mariner Series Summer 2021

The Evening Mariner Series:

These special, after-hours programs focus in depth on topics related to these historic vessels. Programs may include lectures or special tours, and each program will last approximately one hour, plus time for questions. The Evening Mariner Series are family-friendly and place the stories of USS Constellation, USCGC Taney, and the USS TORSK within a greater historical context.  

Programs in the Summer 2021 series:

July 17th- Submarine Disasters! - This special, after-hours tour of USS Torsk will tell the stories of several significant submarine disasters and explore theories about why they happened. Walk among spaces and equipment to see examples of where things went wrong for these fateful vessels.

Aug 7th- Naval Medicine in the Civil War* - Witness Ship's Surgeon Bradford Stone demonstrate various medical practices and theories used aboard ship during the Civil War.

Aug 28th- Mission of Mercy* USS Constellation's delivery of food and supplies to the starving people of Ireland was one of many humanitarian missions for this ship. Hear the story of this heroic effort aboard the ship where it happened.
